How Often Should You Post on Social Media?
Consistency is the Key
The most important factor to your success on social media is posting with consistency. We know that it’s hard to come up with what to post, what to say, how to say it, how to make it attractive, and what is going to resonate with your audience. That’s why we created the Real Estate Influencer Club, to take the guesswork out of it.
But even with all the tools in the world, there are still some general guidelines you want to stick to with posting.
We recommend posting at least 2-3 times per week. It can be really hard to gain new followers and get your posts seen on Facebook, without paying for ads. That’s the unfortunate truth. But the last thing you want is for someone to search your name on Facebook and find a business page that hasn’t been posted to in 3 months. Yikes!
Instagram is a lot more fast-paced than Facebook so you may consider posting more often, around 3-4 times per week. The beauty of Instagram is the opportunity to post a variety of types of content - static posts, carousels, reels, and stories - and have all of them live forever on your profile.
TikTok
Creating videos for TikTok is a lot more time consuming but you can always repurpose your Instagram Reels as TikTok videos (and you should!) We suggest aiming for posting once a week to TikTok.
Linked In
This platform should be reserved for professional content only, and only posted on business days. Once a week is sufficient to remain active and connect with referral partners.
Threads
Threads is so new, we just don’t have enough information to really give a good recommendation. Mostly, we recommend not spreading yourself too thin and trying to be everywhere, all the time, on every platform. You can play around with it at your discretion and see if anything hits with your audience and then post more of that. But for right now, don’t stress about being on Threads.
Key Considerations
Remember, the recommended schedule above is just a recommendation. If all you can manage is once a week on each platform, then that needs to be good enough. It’s better to post only once a week than get overwhelmed by it all and not post for several months.
Quality over Quantity
It’s always better to post quality content less often than to post random junk with more frequency. Before you post you want to ask yourself: is this helpful to my audience? Is this relevant to my brand? Will my audience find this post entertaining? Does this content feel authentic to my brand persona? Posting inauthentic and poor quality content on a regular basis can lead your followers to not trust you, or worse - unfollow you.
Show Your Face
Posting nothing but a bunch of pictures of pretty houses over and over over doesn’t build trust in your audience and doesn’t keep your name (and face) top of mind. It does nothing to promote your brand, or prove your value to your followers. So while sharing pictures of your next open house is great, make sure you sprinkle in some of YOU in the mix as well.
To sum it all up, there is no one schedule fits all approach to succeeding on social media as a real estate agent. The #1 rule to keep in mind is posting quality content with whatever consistency you can effectively maintain.
